Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines. Learn more about our review moderation.

Don’t waste your money !!
Feb 2023
I’ve seen many west-end shows and was so disappointed with this one ,absolute rubbish, poor acting and definitely not worth the cost of the very expensive ticket , don’t waste your money . See real talent and watch Sheridan Smith in Shirley Valentine !

Disappointing show
Mar 2023 • Couples
Went to see this show with my husband and was looking forward to it, especially as I love the movie so much. I found the whole performance cringey, to the point I had to leave at the intermission. Lacks chemistry, emotion and just didn’t live up to my expectations. Disappointing.

Loved it!

Having never watched the film, this show was brilliant. It was funny but also heartwarming at the same time. Having watched the film after seeing the musical, people need to stop comparing the two. Personally I prefer the musical! We had a great time and my friend who loves the movie thoroughly enjoyed it too!

Vivienne substitute was awful and let whole show down
Mar 2023 • Friends
Went to see this and was disappointed we had the substitute Vivienne, Elly Jay, she did not fit the character at all and let the whole show down for us. Not a bad singing voice but when talking/acting it was awful.
Rest of the cast were amazing particularly Kit, Mr Thompson and the opera singer female.
The show as a whole was good but not great but I do think I would have felt differently and gone to watch a second time if we had a better Vivienne.
Savoy….you need to update your decor ha ha

Enjoyable show.

We thoroughly enjoyed Pretty Women a Christmas present from my Husband. We were sitting at the back (aisle seat - row R) and we still had a great view. The atmosphere, acting and singing were great. Would defiantly recommend seeing this show, if you love the film.

Honestly it was dreadful. I am ashamed that I went. I cannot believe it has managed to get ANY good reviews. It was boring, childish and looked like a cheap production. I wanted to boo at the end but didn’t want to upset the apparently happy people. Avoid avoid avoid

If you LOVE the film, lower your expectations. Stage version is mediocre.

Really wanted to love this being a massive fan of the film but from the off felt short changed. The musical sticks too close to the film and original script so leaves itself open to direct comparison and falls short. Sound quality wasn’t great so much so that the big notes were often too much to bear (and sometimes too big for the singer to handle!). Parts of it came off as really cheesey - cue the Hotel Manage come Homeless man come every other character they needed to fill attempting to rap - and the acting just wasn’t up to par sadly. The male lead was no Richard Gere! It either needs to adapt away from the original so it can stand alone or it needs to up the quality of delivery. As a big fan of the film I spent the majority of this cringing or trying not to laugh (in the wrong places). If you’re not a massive fan of the film and just want a night out that occasionally borders on soft porn then this will suit you fine. Otherwise, spend the money on a different show. It was that underwhelming we left before the ‘big’ pretty woman number finale. We were right at the back in the stalls (W2 & W3) - view was ok but not great, sat next to the sound engineer who was chatting/giggling with his mate halfway through, although we were super close to the toilet which was a bonus as it meant we didn’t disturb anyone when we needed to go!

Not worth your time. Watch something else.

I was sitting right in the centre of row A, and tbh I was hugely disappointed. I’ve seen no less than 150 musical performances in the past 30 years, and this was easily the worst production I’ve seen. Credit to all the actors/ actresses, but the show in itself was just a bad production. Music was not relevant to the story line nor was it catchy. There were no real main tunes that would connect each scene, and the songs were not musical at all, they were mainly composed out of conversations which sounded more like a play. If anything I’d say the music was far fetched through out. Stage setting was mediocre, in a modern production I would expect something extravagant such as Moulin Rough, or a grand background like Beauty & Beast. It looked like they run out of idea for a proper stage design that should wow the audiences. Since everyone is so familiar with the movie, I was y expecting to see some new ingredients that would refresh an old classic, but no, they did not even try to surprise, the script is almost exactly the same as the movie but everything was done in a cheaper version. There were some good actresses (actors) nontheless, Cortney Bowman who played Edward was played by John Addison, it was a disaster to watch, his voice was weak and his singing seemed out of tune at times, he may even have forgotten the lyrics a couple of times. ( I am not sure if these mistakes were intentional), but I certainly don’t buy it, I nearly walked out of the show during the interval. My evening ended without any single memorable moment. How sad. All in all spend your money wisely, there are plenty of other musicals to choose from.
Vivian’s mate, she was sensational, her voice was explosive and grand, a proper musical star. Elly Jay as Vivian was also fabulous, she was extremely attractive and her voice was as beautiful. Even with their talent, it wouldn’t save the show.
